Leopold Hoffmanns Konzert ist kein Sensationsfund, aber so wie Gabetta das Werk ernst nimmt eine angenehme Entdeckung. Manches Cellospiel erinnert an den Flug einer Superdrohne, Gabettas hingegen an das liebevolle Bearbeiten eines kostbaren schlanken Holzkorpus. Wer Hunderte von Maserungen im Ton hat, verzeichtet auf blenderisches Vibrato. So klingt jede Note frisch artikuliert und lebendig.«
