Das Album »The Crux Of The Biscuit« wurde im Rahmen der Veröffentlichung der Anniversary Edition des Albums »Apostrophe« (1974) zusammengestellt. Es enthält insgesamt 15 Tracks, darunter die Outtakes »Apostrophe« und »Uncle Remus«, alternative Mixe, z. B. von »Don’t Eat The Yellow Snow«, eine Liveversion von »Don’t Eat Yellow The Snow / St. Alphonzo’s Pancake Breakfast« und vieles mehr.
Parallel mit »The Crux Of The Biscuit« erscheint ein weiteres Zappa-Album mit rarem Material. »Frank Zappa for President« umfasst ebenfalls nie gehörte Aufnahmen des Musikers.
