Discover New Worlds with cpo

Hardly any other label has captured as much recent international attention as cpo. Experts unanimously praise the impressive repertoire that is implemented on a highly artistic level and receives exemplary documentation in the booklets. The high point of this general recognition was certainly the awarding of the "Cannes Classical Award" for the best label (worldwide!) at the MIDEM in January 1995 and cpo was also awarded the Lower Saxon Music Prize 2003 in "appreciation for creative service."

We are particularly proud that cpo - founded in 1986 - has reached the top in record time. The secret of this success is easy to explain, even if it is hard to implement: cpo never seeks to compete with the big companies in the industry, but rather fills the niches that cannot be filled by the leaders because they cannot make a profit there. And, a treasure chest was found in many niches according to experts' unanimous view.

The beginning of any repertoire decision is still the old-fashioned reading of the score, since everything that is undiscovered does not necessarily need to be burned onto a CD. On the other hand, there are still many true musical treasures - from the renaissance to the modern - remaining to be discovered and that are often much closer than we think. Our large works editions from Pfitzner, Korngold, Hindemith or Pettersen are praised for good reason. We will continue in this spirit.

In the end, our artistic credo is very simple: we make the CDs that we ourselves always wanted to have. You are cordially invited on this adventurous expedition!
