Mit „When The Madhouses Appear“ von The Fling findet ein kleines Juwel der lebendigen US-Westcoast Folk / Americana Szene seinen Weg nach Deutschland.
Gegründet wurde das Quintett von den Brüdern Dustin und Graham Lovelis, die mal nicht gegen ihren Vater rebellierten, sondern vielmehr seinen Fußstapfen folgten, indem sie gleich mal seinen alten Bandnamen verwendeten und den melodischen Pop von Big Star und die entspannten Harmonien von The Byrds umarmten. Auch wenn Vater Lovelis bisher noch auf keinem Song zu hören ist, erwecken die Söhne zusammen mit ihren Freunden Justin Ivey (Drums), Justin Roeland (Guitars, Keyboards, Vocals) und Joel Bond (Guitars, Vocals) seine musikalischen Inspirationen zum Leben.
„I don’t even consider myself a lead singer“, so Dustin Lovelis, „I just kinda fell into that. It’s nice to have other people singing and all sharing the stage. You can go all the way back to The Beatles, Beach Boys – there’s a lot of really great bands that have a lot of songwriters and they have all these different angles of who writes the darker songs, who writes the pop songs. I think it’s really cool to bounce off each other.“

Aufgenommen hat das ganze Matt Wignall, kommender Star der LA-Produzentengilde, der u. a. auch den Cold War Kids zu gutem Sound verholfen hat.
