As the successor to the Blu-ray Disc, the Ultra HD Blu-ray is an optical data storage device for movies in ultra-high definition format. The eponymous Ultra HD resolution is a maximum of 3840 × 2160 pixels. In contrast to its predecessor, it also supports a higher contrast range, a higher refresh rate and a larger color space. Normal Blu-ray players cannot play the new media. Ultra HD Blu-ray-capable devices are usually backward compatible.
Blu-Ray DiscThe Blu-Ray was developed as a high-definition successor to the DVD and offers a significantly increased data rate and storage capacity compared to its predecessor. Blu-Rays can therefore store movies with significantly better resolution and offer enormously high picture quality on corresponding screens. Blu-Ray players are usually backward compatible with DVDs, so that they can also be played.

Nachdem seine Alkoholsucht ihn seine Karriere wie auch sein privates Glück gekostet hat, beschließt der gescheiterte Drehbuchautor Ben Sanderson, nach Las Vegas zu fahren und sich zu Tode zu trinken. Dort begegnet er der glücklosen Prostituierten Sera und zwischen den beiden verlorenen Seelen entwickelt sich erst eine Freundschaft, dann eine innige Affäre - doch mit klaren Regeln: er darf ihren Broterwerb nicht kommentieren und sie darf ihn nicht von seinem Plan abbringen.
Das kompromisslose Leidens- und Liebesdrama von Regisseur Mike Figgis erhielt für seine ungeschönte Darstellung existenzieller Grenzsituationen zahlreiche Auszeichnungen, darunter auch Oscar®-Nominierungen für Regie, Drehbuch und Hauptdarstellerin. Vor allem Ausnahmeschauspieler Nicolas Cage wurde für seine intensive Performance mit Preisen überhäuft, gewann sowohl Oscar® als auch Golden Globe und stieg endgültig zum Hollywood-Superstar auf.
