Kevin M Burke: I'll Be Your Mirror, Gebunden

Klappentext

Long before the podcast era, Jean Stein captured the most interesting personalities and scenes of her time with a tape recorder, from the Kennedys to the Civil Rights movement, from the Warhol Factory to the people who helped create Hollywood. Stein wasn't only a brilliant interviewer; she was a scene unto herself, bringing together writers, artists, scientists, thinkers, and performers. Like Edie , the book that made her famous, I'll Be Your Mirror is an oral biography; it follows Stein from her childhood as a daughter of Hollywood mogul Jules Stein to her early affair with William Faulkner and her career as a best-selling author and the publisher of Grand Street . Informed by hundreds of hours of interviews and Stein's own archive, Kevin Burke evokes the people Stein touched and the voices of an era. I'll Be Your Mirror is a kaleidoscopic portrait of one of our most notable cultural chroniclers, who sought to expose deep wounds within families, the country, and ultimately herself, as a way of exorcising the glittering but often dark underside of the American Dream.
