System-level battery management strategies for large-scale energy storage deployment

As lithium-ion batteries become central to grid-scale renewable energy integration, engineers and researchers require rigorous guidance on managing these systems beyond the cell level. Smart Battery Management for Large Scale Energy Storage Systems, written by a team of researchers with collective expertise, addresses system-level modelling, sensing, state assessment, energy management, and intelligent control for large-scale deployments.

Across eight chapters, the book covers lithium-ion battery performance and models, balancing circuits and energy management strategies. It examines intelligent control methods for grid-connected battery storage systems, optimized operation strategies, and advanced algorithms, supported by end-of-chapter questions to reinforce key concepts.

Readers will also find:

• Detection technologies for battery parameter monitoring sensors across various industrial applications and scenarios
• Intelligent control methods and optimized operation strategies for grid-connected battery energy storage systems
• Advanced algorithm applications evaluated across three dimensions: control performance, operational safety, and system economics
• End-of-chapter questions designed to reinforce theoretical understanding and practical application of battery management concepts

Designed for researchers focused on battery management systems, industry engineers working in the energy storage sector, and graduate students in electrical engineering, this book connects academic research with industrial implementation, providing the system-level perspective required for effective large-scale battery energy storage deployment.
