Gene Collins: The End of Secrecy - The Roswell Continuum, Kartoniert / Broschiert

Klappentext

The End of Secrecy traces the origins and evolution of America's UFO cover-up, beginning with the 1947 crash near Roswell, New Mexico. When the U. S. Army first announced the recovery of a "flying disc," newspapers across the nation and around the world reported the extraordinary event. Within twenty-four hours, the government reversed its position, claiming the wreckage was nothing more than a weather balloon. That abrupt shift marked the beginning of a decades-long continuum of secrecy surrounding UFOs and possible extraterrestrial activity.

This book examines the many incidents, sightings, and recovery operations that were dismissed or classified by military and intelligence agencies, and the extraordinary lengths taken to keep these events hidden from the public. More importantly, it explores why the government has maintained silence for so long - from Cold War strategic concerns to fears of societal disruption.

Through chapters that follow military programs, intelligence compartmentalization, congressional inquiries, and the slow emergence of modern disclosure, The End of Secrecy reveals how post-war secrecy became institutionalized and why it is now beginning to unravel. The book also considers the profound implications that full alien disclosure would have on religion, public trust, national security, and the credibility of our institutions.
