Klappentext
Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen (1946-2005), internationally known as "NHOP", started his musical carreer at the age of 12, and a couple of years later he made his first recording. At the beginning of the 1960s, he became a member of various new ensembles of The Danish Broadcasting Corporation. In this period, he also became the regular bass player of the house trio in the jazz club Montmartre in Copenhagen. This was the beginning of a career that was going to make him a part of the world of jazz in the following decade. The book has an account of his way into jazz and the partners who had a crucial influence on his career, particularly Dexter Gordon, Ben Webster, Kenny Drew and Oscar Peterson, before he stablished
himself as a soloist and became a leader of his own trio. It also has comments on NHØP's own recordings, which he connected to his own musical and cultural roots, and the discography has information about partners and repertoires from NHØP's first to last recordings.
