Die Aufnahmen zum neuen Album fanden an den verschiedensten Orten der Erde statt: mit den ersten Arbeiten begann man bereits im letzten Jahr in Fez, Marokko, im bandeigenen Studio in Dublin und im Platinum Sound Recording Studio in New York, bevor das Album in den Olympic Studios in London endgültig fertig gestellt wurde. Produziert wurde »No Line On The Horizon« von Brian Eno (Coldplay, Paul Simon, Depeche Mode), Daniel Lanois (Bob Dylan, Peter Gabriel) und Steve Lillywhite (u. a. The Rolling Stones, The Smiths, Travis).

Sessions for the album began in 2007 in Fez, Morocco, where longtime producers Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois joined U2 as songwriting partners. Sessions continued in the band's own studio in Dublin, moved to New York's Platinum Sound Recording Studios before production was completed in December 2008 at Olympic Studios in London. As well as the production talents of long-time collaborators Brian Eno and Danny Lanois, additional production was by Steve Lillywhite. (U2.com)
