Product Information
In Oscar Peterson’s series of duo albums with trumpet players, the date with Roy Eldridge was the emotional high point. A player who poured into his work all of the feeling he could muster, Eldridge was no less hot and direct a few days short of his 64th birthday than he had been at 34 when he made the original “Little Jazz” with Artie Shaw. Peterson also does here for Eldridge what Shaw’s 17-piece band did in 1945. When Peterson moves from piano to organ on several pieces, the swing loses nothing and we hear a new richness of timbre and texture.
