»Guru’s Jazzmatazz Vol. 1« ist das erste von vier Alben des Bandprojekts Jazzmatazz, das von Rapper und Gang-Starr-Chef Guru gegründet wurde. Guru verstarb bereits im Jahr 2010.
Im Studio brachte er verschiedene Rapper, Sänger und Jazzmusiker, zum Beispiel MC Solaar, N’Dea Davenport, Donald Byrd, Ronny Jordan, Courtney Pine und Branford Marsalis zusammen, die gemeinsam Stücke aufnahmen.
Das Resultat ist die beeindruckende Fusion der verschiedenen Genres und eine Albumreihe, die heute längst Kultstatus hat. Hier ist die Jubiläumsedition von »Guru’s Jazzmatazz Vol. 1«.
