Hart, rasend und ohne Pause katapultierten sich die „Evil Four“ aus L.A. mit ihrem 1992 erschienenen Debüt von Höhepunkt zu Höhepunkt. Mit der unverkennbaren Stimme von Zack de la Rocha und der kraftvollen Gitarrenarbeit von Tom Morello bildete das mit zwei Grammys ausgezeichnete Quartett seit 1992 die Speerspitze des Crossover-Genres. Im Oktober 2000 stieg Zack aus der Band aus. Die übrigen Mitglieder gründeten mit dem Ex-Soundgarden-Sänger Chris Cornell zusammen die Formation Audioslave, die drei erfolgreiche Longplays veröffentlichte.

To this day the album, and the band, remains the standard‐bearer for uncompromising, incendiary rock.
