Der Film: Will Rodman (James Franco) ist ein junger, engagierter Wissenschaftler, der zusammen mit seinem Vater (John Lithgow), ebenfalls ein Forscher, Heilmittel für Menschen erforscht. Ein vielversprechendes Mittel, in das Will viele Hoffnungen setzt, testet er in einem hoch-modernen Labor an Affen. Ein besonderer Affe namens Caesar (Andy Serkis) wächst ihm dabei ans Herz. Das Mittel scheint zu funktionieren. Doch plötzlich ruft es noch ganz andere, unerwartete Reaktionen hervor… Die Primatenforscherin Caroline (Freida Pinto) unterstützt Will auf der Suche nach den Ursachen - und den Folgen! Der Komponist und die Musik: Mit seinem grandiosen Score zu Planet der Affen: Prevolution tritt Patrick Doyle in die großen Fußstapfen von Lalo Schifrin, Leonard Rosenman, Danny Elfman und Jerry Goldsmith. Für seine Kompositionen wurde Patrick Doyle mehrfach preisgekrönt (u. a. World Soundtrack Awards für Gosford Park und Bridget Jones's Diary) und nominiert (u. a. Oscar-Nominierungen für Hamlet und Sense and Sensibility). Diese Filme zeigen aber nur einen kleinen Ausschnitt aus seinem Schaffen: von Est - Ouest über A Little Princess und Eine Französische Frau bis zu Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire oder Thor hat Patrick Doyle nach seinem Studium an der Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow schon die Musik zu vielen unterschiedlichen Filmgenres geschrieben. Am bekanntesten wurde der 1953 im schottischen Ort Uddingston geborene Komponist allerdings für seine Zusammenarbeit mit Regisseur Kenneth Branagh.
