Jean-Christophe Maillots inspirierte Adaption von Shakespeares »Der Widerspenstigen Zähmung« gewann drei Masques d’Ors (beste Choreografie, bester Tänzer, beste Tänzerin) und ist seit seiner Premiere am Bolschoi-Theater dort ein echter Dauerbrenner. Für seine eigene Balletttruppe, das Monte Carlo Ballet, hat Maillot die Fassung noch einmal aufgefrischt und aufgepeppt. Das Ergebnis ist eine »witzige, schlagfertige Version« (The Guardian) des Balletts, die ein paar der mitreißendsten Melodien Dmitri Schostakowitschs verwendet.
