Ein ungewöhnlicher Telemann-Zyklus
1731 brachte Telemann im Selbstverlag einen in jeder Hinsicht ungewöhnlichen Zyklus auf den Markt: "III Trietti metodichi e III Scherzi à 2 Flauti traversieri overo 2 Violini con Fondamento." "Trietti" (kleine Trios) und Scherzi als mehrsätzige Kompositionen hatte es bis dahin nicht gegeben. Telemann befriedigte damit die Nachfrage nach "humorvollen" Scherzi und nach nicht allzu langen und allzu schweren Trios und darüber hinaus die Nachfrage nach praktischem Anschauungsmaterial für die "Methode" zu verzieren. Die durchweg dreisätzigen Stücke sind galant-gefällig, tänzerisch schwungvoll und das Verschmelzen der beiden Geigen in "Kürzestmotiven" trägt zum scherzhaften Charakter des Ganzen nicht unerheblich bei. Ergänzt wird die Aufnahme durch zwei Quartette, die besonders durch den Einsatz des Fagotts statt Bass ihre Raffinesse und Schönheit zeigen.

An Unusual Telemann Cycle
In 1731 Telemann’s independent publishing enterprise issued what was in every respect an unusual cycle: »III Trietti metodichi e III Scherzi à 2 Flauti traversieri overo 2 Violini con Fondamento.« Previously, »trietti« (little trios) and scherzos had not existed as multi-movement compositions. Telemann thus satisfied the demand not only for humorous scherzos and not-too-difficult trios but also for practical illustrative material demonstrating his method of musical embellishment. The pieces, all of them in three movements, are delightful in a galant way and full of dancy swing, and the blending of the two violins in the shortest motifs contributes not inconsiderably to the jocular character of the whole. The recording is complemented by two quartets revealing their refinement and beauty in particular in their employment of the bassoon instead of the bass.
