Als Königin Victoria I. 1840 Prinz Albert von Sachsen Coburg Gotha heiratete, brachte dieser die Tradition des Christbaums mit nach London. Wenig später ließ sich das Regentenpaar mit seinen Kindern zu Weihnachten unter dem Baum portraitieren, und sogleich wollten es ihre Untertanen ihm gleichtun.
Die heutigen Weihnachtstraditionen im Inselkönigreich gehen also stark auf die Queen zurück, und die vorliegende Einspielung ist ganz der weihnachtlichen Musik des langen Viktorianischen Zeitalters gewidmet, die sich auch heute noch großer Beliebtheit erfreut.
Zu hören sind u. a. deutschsprachige Lieder und Klassiker von Händel, Bach, Liszt und Brahms.
