Biografie (Thomas von Kempen)
Thomas von Kempen (Thomas Hemerken oder Hämmerlein), geboren um 1380 als Handwerkerssohn in Kempen. Mitg 20 Eintritt ins Augustinerkloster Agnetenberg bei Zwolle, tätig als Seelsorger. Das bedeutendste ihm zugeschriebene Werk ist die um 1424 entstandene und 1470 veröffentlichte 'Nachfolge Christi'. (nach der Bibel das meistverbreitete christliche Erbauungsbuch). Der Autor verstarb 1471 als Subprior des Klosters, in dem er über 70 Jahre lang gewirkt hatte.
