Obwohl »The Pod« bald 30-jähriges Jubiläum feiert, hat das zweite, 1991 veröffentlichte Studioalbum von Ween bis heute nichts von seiner bewusstseinserweiternden Faszination verloren.
Grund genug für das Londoner Label Schnitzel, das surreale, von Andrew Weiss produzierte und gemixte Experimentalwerk noch einmal als graues 180-Gramm-Vinyl nachzupressen. Dafür wurde »The Pod« neu von Howie Weinberg bei Masterdisk gemastert. Bekanntlich nahmen Mickey Melchiondo (Dean Ween) und Aaron Freeman (Gene Ween) ihre morbid-bizarren, von Folk und Hard Rock beeinflussten Songminiaturen seinerzeit auf einem billigen Vierspurrekorder auf.
Durch den Einsatz von etwas Hochglanzpolitur klingen die 23 Stücke angenehm frischer, ohne an Verrücktheit zu verlieren. Die einmalige Wiederveröffentlichung ist auf 1000 Exemplare limitiert und enthält das Album als Bonus-CD.
