Of The Valley bereits rumgesprochen. Es scheint also an der Zeit zu sein, dass Brian DellaValle mit Of The Valley das Tageslicht erblickt.
Somewhere between Bon Iver and The National
Of The Valley. Behind this name lies Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Brian DellaValle, who moved to Copenhagen to study neuroscience and made his new home in Denmark.
Before the roll-out of his debut, Of The Valley has already attracted attention with his first single release »Ride Alone«, a tour of several weeks in Germany, and his appearance at the Reeperbahn Festival.
The debut album finally arrives. Bearing the simple name »Of The Valley«, we are carried through ten songs, sonically steeped in atmospheric elements and a percussive pulse, yet ultimately held together by DellaValle's extraordinary and engaging baritone voice. This voice runs like a thread through the record, giving his songs depth and grandeur, spiked with a soothing melancholy. The lyrical texts of DellaValle are created on the typewriter. Similar to an entry from a diary, we follow honest and authentic storylines. Through these words, arriving in the veracity of a moment, DellaValle describes the beauty in moments that pass him by.
On his writing: »I write mostly about my life / And the lives of those around me / The conversations we have / And body language / And those things that are so clearly beautiful to me / Those things that send glorious shivers down my spine. In some sense, I write with my body and then read it with my mind.«
OR simply: »Through these words, arriving in the veracity of a moment, DellaValle describes the beauty in moments that pass him by: »In some sense, I write with my body and then read it with my mind.«
DellaValle adds: »For me, writing music, and words, is not entirely different than being a scientist. In researching nature, we stand on edge, on the shoulders of giants, and work on capture on objective truth. An artistic endeavor is not so different: standing on a cliff-edge, casting your net into the unknown, hoping you might pull something back into it. A subjective truth. Something that moves, something takes courage to read out loud. Pursuing nature's truths is similar to the pursuit of your own.«
In March / April 2018 Of The Valley accompanied the entire European tour of Bahamas (CAN) while the name of Of The Valley continues to spread internationally through blogs and SoMe. On that backdrop, it seems to be time now for Brian DellaValle’s work to see the light of day with the stunning release, Of The Valley.
