Es wurde von Mike Shipley und Def Leppard produziert, mit Robert John "Mutt" Lange als ausführendem Produzenten. Das Album debütierte auf Platz 1 der britischen Album- und der amerikanischen Billboard-Charts.

Hysteria-Nachfolgealbum

Einen Nachfolger zum Megaseller Hysteria aufzunehmen war eine sehr schwere Aufgabe für Def Leppard. Adrenalize überzeugt die meiste Zeit, kommt aber nicht ganz an die Qualität des Vörgängers heran. Gegenüber den 3-4 Klassikern mit Ohrwurmqualität, die auf keiner Best Of fehlen dürfen, fallen die anderen Songs etwas ab und haben nur gehobene Durchschnittsqualität. Trotzdem: ein insg. sehr guter Nachfolger, der in der Sammlung keines Fans fehlen darf und der Freunden von Radio-kompatiblem 80ies Rock einfach Spaß macht.
