Die Steve Miller Band konnte 1976 mit ’Fly Like An Eagle’ und dem Nachfolger ’Book of Dreams’ zum totalen Höhenflug ansetzten. Beide Alben waren der Höhepunkt in Millers Karriere. Sie erreichten Spitzenpositionen in den Album-Charts und sorgten für größere Hit-Singles, darunter ’Rock‘n Me’, ’Take The Money And Run’, ’Jet Airliner’ oder ’Jungle Love’. Die Band spielte zu dieser Zeit auf einer größeren Stadiontournee mit den Eagles. Auf dem Höhepunkt seines Erfolgs zog sich Miller aus dem Aufnahme- und Tourleben zurück, tauchte jedoch 1981 mit dem Album ’Circle of Love’ (inkl. ’Heart Like A Wheel’, ’Circle of Love’) wieder auf. Im Juni 1982 kehrte er mit dem weiteren Hit-Album ’Abracadabra’ zu alter Pop / Rock-Formel zurück: Die gleichnamige Single wurde gleichzeitig in Amerika, Japan und vielen Ländern Europas Nr. 1. Auch ’Goodbye Love’, ’Keeps Me Wondering Why’ und ’Give It Up’, sowie ’Never Say No’, wurden Hits in vielen Ländern Europas. Der Nachfolger ’Italian X-Rays’, im Original 1984 erschienen, wurde komplett digital eingespielt. Hit-Singles waren hier ’Shangri-La’ und ’Bongo Bongo’. Das Hit-Album erscheint jetzt erstmalig in neu rausgeputzter Digipak-Version und markiert sicher das Highlight im brandneuen Edsel-Steve Miller Backkatalog. Das umfangreiche Booklet beinhaltet alle Lyrics, neue Linernotes von Joel Selvin und zahlreiche Archiv-Fotos (u. a. aus dem Tourprogramm jener Zeit).

A recording artist since 1968, Miller made eight albums for Capitol, culminating with“The Joker”, before releasing the multi-million selling “Fly Like An Eagle” and “Book Of Dreams” albums in 1976 and 1977.

Following the huge-selling “Circle Of Love” and “Abracadabra” albums, Steve Miller returned in November 1984 with “Italian.

X-Rays”, amongst the first albums to be recorded entirely digitally. It features the hit singles “Shangri-La” and “Bongo Bongo”.

The booklet of this Special Digipak Edition contains all the lyrics, and a brand new note by San Francisco journalist Joel Selvin, based on a recent interview with Steve Miller himself.
