Die britische Art Rock Band Roxy Music wurde 1971 von Brian Ferry gegründet, der gerade seinen Abschluss an der Kunsthochschule gemacht hatte. Ferry wurde Sänger der Band und schrieb die meisten Songs.

Ihr Top 10 Debütalbum Roxy Music in 1972 markierte den Beginn einer erfolgreichen Karriere in England und Europa bis in die frühen 1980er Jahre. Die Band hatte einen maßgeblichen Einfluss auf die frühe Punk Szene Englands. Darüber hinaus fungierte sie als Modell für viele New Wave Bands und experimentelle Elekronik Bands dieser Zeit.
