Die Band um Nigel Ayers entstand aus den Resten von The Pump und wurde schnell eine wichtige Größe im bristischen Industrial Movement. !The Quickening" kam 1993 auf dem bandeigenen Label Earthly Delights heraus. Dieses Reissue ist die erste CD Version des Albums, um eine halbe Stunde länger als das Vinyl-Original. Nigel Ayers hat in seinem Archiv vier verschiedene Versionen des Albums gefunden und daraus die ultimative Version gebastelt. The Quckening fängt dort an, wo "Stoneface" und "Spiritflesh" aufhörten. Melancholische Drones treffen auf Melodien, aber das ist nicht alles! Die Verspieltheit der Musik erzeugt eine sich ständige verändernde Klanglandschaft, die von dunkel nach hell wechselt, verhaltene Rhythmen setzen ein, wenn man sie am wenigsten erwartet. Nocturnal Emissions have been going since 1980. The band around Nigel Ayers developed out of the ashes of The Pump and quickly became a protagonist in the Industrial scene in the UK. "The Quickening" came out in 1993 on the band's own Earthly Delights label. It has never been re-issued on CD. Nigel Ayers has found four versions of the album in his archives - out of these he created this definite version of this beautiful album. It picks up where "Stoneface" and "Spiritflesh" have left off. Melancholy drones meet beautiful melodies, but mind you: this is not a drone album. There's much more to it! The playfulness alone creates an ever-changing flow of sound, the atmosphere turns from dark to light, rhythm patterns crawl in where least expected. "The Quickening" is another milestone in the Nocturnal Emissions catalogue.
