The 8Bitch is one Maya Medvesek of Slovenian descent now splitting her time between Glasgow and London where she's creating some of the freshest electronic club music around. Part of the second wave of talented producers to come out of Scotland alongside the likes of Hudson Mohawke, Runrig, Floella Benjamin and Rustie, her 41' track has already made an appearance on Ministry of Sound's dventures In Dubstep And Beyond' and a heavy touring schedule - which will see her taking in everywhere from Copenhagen to a public toilet in Shepherd's Bush - is sure to set her up for even bigger things in the future, possibly even a brickie's portacabin. quinox' is her startling debut EP. Mythical in stature, the tunes are all named after Greek and Egyptian gods and goddesses, and there is more flavouring in 8Bitch's aural oeuvre than Levi Roots' Reggae Reggae Sauce. Hotly tipped by FACT magazine, 8Bitch has also been on the receiving end of recent plaudits from XLR8R ("touches on futuristic blap, UK garage, R&B, and even classic mid-'90s Warp experimentalism"), Dummy ("she has her own language and it's beautifully, magically persuasive"), and Mixmag ("super deep, absolute solid funk" - Joe Muggs).
