About the film

1939. Dieser Film erzählt die spannende und dramatische Geschichte des berühmten Panzerschiffes „Admiral Graf Spee“ und seines Kapitäns Langsdorff (Peter Finch, „Network“). Im Handelskrieg kann das Schiff einige Beute machen, bevor es an der Mündung des Rio de la Plata schwer beschädigt wird. Es beginnt ein politisches Tauziehen zwischen den verschiedenen Kriegsparteien um das Schiff, das im Hafen von Montevideo im neutralen Uruguay liegt. Doch schließlich wird die „Graf Spee“ gezwungen, auszulaufen. Kapitän Langsdorff muss eine folgenschwere Entscheidung treffen…
