About the film

Frankreich im 17. Jahrhundert. Der Landarzt Benjamin (Peter Vogel) liebt Manette (Inken Sommer), die Tochter des Gastwirtes. Der allerdings ist damit nicht einverstanden, viel lieber will er, dass Manette einen wohlhabenden Mann heiratet, sodass auch er einen Profit daraus schlagen könnte. So beschliesst Manette, dass Benjamin sie entführen und dann ehelichen soll, doch Benjamin hat Angst vor einer Heirat. Also verbündet sich Manette mit Hector de Pont-Cassé, der wiederum Benjamin vor dem Marquis de Cambyse, dem Benjamin mal einen bösen Streich spielte, beschützen muss...
