Tolle Neuigkeiten für alle R.E.M.-Fans: Die Rockikonen veröffentlichen 2018 ihr »The Best Of R.E.M. At The BBC«, eine Sammlung mit seltenen und unveröffentlichten Live- und Studioaufnahmen aus dem BBC- und Bandarchiv. Die Doppel-CD bzw. Doppel-LP versammelt Aufnahmen aus über 20 Jahren.Zudem gibt es »The Best Of R.E.M. At The BBC« auch als gigantische Super-Deluxe-Edition. Diese umfasst acht CDs und eine DVD. Zu den Highlights gehören R.E.M.s John Peel-Sessions, ihre Performance als Headliner 1999 in Glastonbury, eine »Radio 1 Live Lounge«-Performance von 2008 und vieles mehr.
Die DVD, die das Set vervollständigt, beginnt mit der 60-minütigen »Accelerating Backwards«-Dokumentation (die zuvor in Großbritannien ausgestrahlt wurde, aber nie kommerziell erhältlich war) mit Interviews mit Peter Buck, Mike Mills und Michael Stipe. Sie bietet außerdem eine komplette »Later… With Jools Holland«-Episode von 1998, die der Band gewidmet war, plus TV-Auftritte aus »Top Of The Pops« und mehr.
