To enjoy the music in high-end quality, a special SACD player is required. Thanks to the hybrid function, most of the products marked "SACD" in our store can also be played on conventional CD players. Seit seiner Gründung im Jahr 1999 begeistert Echo du Danube das Publikum bei Festivals und Konzerten im In- und Ausland. Die Programme des Ensembles sind oft Wiederentdeckungen, die intensive Recherchen und Bibliotheksarbeit voraussetzen. Diese oft spannende und langwierige Arbeit sieht die Gruppe als wichtigen Aspekt des Musikerdaseins und als Quelle neuer Inspiration. Die Besetzungen variieren von Duo und Trio bis zu zwanzig Personen und mehr für Oratorien, Passionen und Opernprogramme. Auf cpo bietet das Ensemble nun ein facettenreiches Programm von Komponisten Neapels mit verschwenderischem Instrumentarium wie Salterio (Hackbrett) und barockem Schlagwerk.. Im 17. Jahrhundert war Neapel schon über mehrere Generationen Hauptstadt eines spanischen Vizekönigreiches. Das ging auch an der Musik nicht spurlos vorüber. Die Virtuosen Neapels ließen sich in ihren Kompositionen von der melancholischen Eleganz des aus Madrid importierten Hofzeremoniells ebenso inspirieren wie vom glutvollen Temperament der auf den Straßen aufspielenden Lautensänger. Neben zwei der außergewöhnlichsten Beiträge zur Gattung des Lamento sowie einer Kammerkantate von Francesco Provenzale erklingen Genres wie Battaglia, Balletto und Gagliarda von Andrea Falconieri, Gregorio Strozzi sowie Antonio Valente. Lebendig und frisch!

Virtuoso Composers from Naples
Since its founding in 1999 Écho du Danube has met with enthusiastic responses from audiences at festivals and concerts at home and abroad. The ensemble's programs often include rediscoveries based on intensive research and work in libraries. The ensemble regards this work, often exciting as well as laborious, as an important aspect of its musical existence and as the source of new inspiration. The ensemble formations vary from the duo and trio to twenty persons and more for oratorios, passions, and opera programs. On cpo the ensemble is now offering a multifaceted program featuring composers from Naples and with lavish instrumental resources including the salterio and baroque percussion instruments. During the seventeenth century Naples had been the capital of a Spanish viceroyalty for several generations – which was not without its musical significance. In their compositions Neapolitan virtuosos were inspired by the melancholy elegance of the court ceremonial imported from Madrid and by the fiery temperament of the lute singers who performed on the streets. Along with two of Francesco Provenzale's most extraordinary contributions to the lamento genre and a chamber cantata by the same composer, contributions to the genres of the battaglia, balletto, and gagliarda by Andrea Falconieri, Gregorio Strozzi, and Antonio Valente are heard. This is spirited and fresh music!

Aufnahmetechnisch gelungen ist diese Neuaufnahme darüber hinaus auch, schon die CD-Spur dieser hochauflösenden SACD klingt wunderbar und sehr dynamisch. Diese Stunde Musik ist im Nu vorbei und lässt den Hörer mit dem Verlangen nach mehr von dieser Musik und einer (Zeit?)Reise nach Neapel zurück. Sicher schon jetzt eine der schönsten Neuerscheinungen des Jahres.«
