Beautifully ingenious... ...and anything but mere finger artistry: The improvisation album Reflections On Debussy by Stuttgart pianist Laurens Patzlaff.
The initial point of this production are the pieces of Claude Debussy, whose 150th birthday is celebrated in 2012. Debussy himself was a great improviser. Laurens Patzlaff considered this well known fact, and is following up the original works of Debussy with his own improvisations, and combines both in a very refreshing way. This production provides not only with real classics of the composers work like Clair de Lune or Le petit nègre, but also with rarely heard pieces like Morceau de concours or Pour l'oeuvre du vêtement du blessé.
This fine recording will enchant the overall fan of classical music as well as the Debussy expert. It is an extraordinary experience which gives interesting perspectives on the familiar music of Debussy. Equally the experts will appreciate the ingenious finesses of Patzlaff’s improvisations and interpretations. The renowned Debussy expert Roy Howat wrote the booklet text of this album.
