Rezensionen
»Diese Edition ist also ein ganz besonderes Plädoyer für die Magie von Vinyl und besitzt hohen Suchtfaktor.« (crescendo 01/2014)»Here stereo’s diffusion of sound is of great benefit to this adorable opera… [Ansermet’s] handling of the score is affectionate, humorous, tender and beautiful in detail… let us be thankful… that we have this admirable recording.« (Gramophone zu Ravel)
»This is another in Decca’s new array of demonstration records. A new standard of immediacy and firmness of stereo seems to have been achieved as though another gauze has been lifted between us and the players. [Gamba’s] Rossini crescendos are all superbly controlled, and with the vivid stereo recording I cannot imagine anyone failing to find this disc very exciting.« (Gramophone zu Rossini)
»David Oistrakh’s superbly poised and eloquent performance of the Hindemith came as an absolute revelation to me. With the LSO playing at the top of their form, and with Hindemith himself showing a surprising sensitivity (his subtle handling of the slow movement’s opening is almost Beechamesque), this performance must be regarded as definitive. The performance of the Bruch is superlative, with Oistrakh, the LSO and Horenstein really making a banquet of it… I cannot imagine finer. The recordings have a satisfying balance between soloist and orchestra, with Oistrakh not too obtrusively near, and both are excellent.« (Gramophone zu Bruch und Hindemith)
»I enjoyed this performance (and recording) of the symphony very much indeed. Maazel judges the work excellently, allowing plenty of emotion, yet never letting it get sloppy. He draws the most lovely playing from the Vienna Philharmonic, playing that only an orchestra of such maturity and tradition can produce. There is a wonderful mellowness, there are evocatively atmospheric passages, there is real pp string sound in the slow movement; yet there is also tremendous brilliance (and some magnificently snarling brass in the first movement — indeed, the brass is always splendid). Decca have here produced outstanding stereo sound.« (Gramophone zu Sibelius)
»A winner from the start. The combination of conductor and orchestra could hardly fail in this brilliant, extrovert music, and with Decca’s most spectacular recording quality I imagine this will become something of a demonstration disc.« (Gramophone zu Kodaly)
»Glamorous and powerful, this is obviously a version of Stravinsky’s great score to be taken very seriously indeed. The opening bassoon solo is beautifully phrased, with Solti giving it plenty of time to unfold, and the recording allows plenty of detail to emerge as the various woodwind instruments stir and tremble into life in that extraordinary dawn chorus. Solti is, as one might expect, particularly good in the fiercer sections of the score; in the ›Glorification of the Chosen One‹, for example, he hits just that note of savage exultation… and his account of the final “Danse sacrale” is brought off with superb power and panache. Solti’s version takes an honourable place in a highly competitive list.« (Gramophone zu Strawinsky)
