With a mutual love of the late-60´s Funk Jazz sound of labels such as Prestige and Blue Note, long-time friends Neil Robinson (drums), Gary Crockett (bass), John ´Wilma´ Willmott (sax and flute), and legendary latin percussionist and band leader Snowboy got together to form The Perceptions. Enlisting the talents of ´Speedometer´ band-leader Leigh Gracie on guitar and the amazing young Italian jazz recording artist Sam Gambarini on Hammond Organ the band are now complete.

With long-term association with artists such as The James Taylor Quartet, The Sound Stylistics, Speedometer, Lisa Stansfield, Incognito, Mark Ronson and The Superphonics (and of course Snowboy!) the band have put in a world-class performance as only very experienced Funk specialists can. They have delivered an album of original, tough, hard, uncompromising Tenor Sax and Organ-led Funk Jazz typical of the aforementioned labels that inspired them – Prestige and Blue Note (a sound that also envelops touches of Blues and James Brown too). They proudly make no concessions to modern contemporary music by doing Funky novelty cover versions of modern songs, and the album was lovingly recorded on tape with vintage equipment for authenticity.

The Perceptions have recorded seven alternate short versions of the album tracks too and will be available as 7-inch singles only, the crafty devils. Two of them feature the legendary ex-James Brown Trombonist Fred Wesley!

The album will be released on October the 27th followed by a European tour starting with an exclusive debut live session on Craig Charles BBC Radio 6 show ´ The Funk And Soul Show´ on October the 25th.
