Spieldauer ca. 309 Minuten. -- Sam Phillips‘ Label ‚Sun Records’ aus Memphis steht als Inbegriff für eine Firma, deren Erfolg sich auf der Veröffentlichung von Singles gründete. Sun veröffentlichte nur wenige Langspielplatten, die meisten davon mit Aufnahmen von Johnny Cash. – Mit dieser auf insgesamt sechs CD-Boxen angelegten Edition widmet sich Bear Family der Geschichte dieses bedeutenden Labels und veröffentlicht sämtliche Sun-Singles (mit jeweils ‚A‘- und ‚B‘-Seite) in numerischer Folge. Für dieses Mammutprojekt mussten ungewöhnliche Wege gegangen werden und seltene Originaltonbänder und rare Schelllackplatten (78er) aufgespürt werden. Mit Erstaunen stellten wir fest, dass etliche Originale noch in keiner Form wiederveröffentlicht wurden. Wir konnten sogar sämtliche Singles von Elvis Presley lizenzieren und somit die Gelegenheit bieten, die frühen Aufnahmen des ‚King of Rock ‚n‘ Roll‘ im ursprünglichen Zusammenhang zu hören. – Auf dieser ersten CD-Box liefern wir alle auf Flip Records veröffentlichten Titel sowie die Sun Singles von Nummer 175 bis 228, die ersten zweiundfünfzig zwischen 1952 und 1955 auf Sun veröffentlichten Singles und die vier Flip-Singles. Hier bekommen Sie alle Singles von Elvis sowie die ersten Singles von Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins und vielen anderen legendären Sun-Künstlern. 4-CD box (LP-size) with 72-page book, 114 tracks. Playing time approx. 309 mns. -- Sun was the ultimate singles label. The original album catalogue was small, and mostly given over to Johnny Cash. Now here is the way Sun should have been reissued all along. All the original singles are presented ('A' and 'B' sides) in numerical order. Incredible care has been taken to locate the original masters or rare 78s to dub from (some of which - incredibly - have never been reissued), and we've also been successful in licensing Elvis Presley's Sun singles, so now you can hear the King of Rock And Roll in the context in which he was first heard. This - the ultimate Sun reissue series on a total of six CD boxed sets - is long overdue, but it has been worth the wait, because it has been done right. -- All the Flip Records, plus Sun 175 to 228. Here are the first 52 singles on Sun ('A' and 'B' sides), issued between 1952 and 1955, as well as the four Flip singles. All of Elvis's singles are here, as well as the first singles by Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, and many other legendary Sun artists. This is music history as it actually unfolded week-by-week.
