Das 1956 aufgenommene Album Improvisations (Barclay F84034) featured den Ausnahmegeiger des Jazz Stéphane Grappelli im Quartett.

Im Gegensatz zu dem Repertoire, das Grappelli mit Django Reinhardt gespielt hat, finden sich auf diesem Album ausschließlich Jazz Standards.

Alle Bonus Tracks präsentieren den Violinisten ebenfalls im Rahmen eines Quartetts (inklusive der kompletten und lange Zeit Out of Print gewesenen 10" LP Jazz Aux Champs-Elysees No. 2 -Voix de son Maitre FFLP1042- mit dem Pianisten Jack Dieval). Das Material wurde zwei Jahre vor Improvisations aufgenommen und enthält ebenfalls einige Standards.
