The rich, vibrant and soulful voice of Johnny Adams first broke beyond New Orleans city limits when 'Release Me' reached the US Hot 100 in December 1968 on SSS International, and many of his recordings for that label were re-issued on "Released" (RPMSH 219) in 2001. Johnny was signed to Rounder Records in 1983, where he recorded eleven LPs before his untimely death from cancer in 1998, building a global reputation as a fine singer in the realms of soul and blues.

Now Shout brings you the chance to hear the music that Johnny recorded in New Orleans, mainly during the late 1970's, in sessions produced at the noted Sea-Saint Studio, much of which was issued on two LPs leased to Chelsea and Ariola, but which suffered from limited distribution. Several tracks were also released by producer Senator Jones on his own labels, and have been hard to find collectors' items for many years.
