2010 – Das John Lennon JahrEs gibt nämlich zwei wichtige Termine rund um diesen legendären Musiker: am 9. Oktober wäre sein 70. Geburtstag gewesen und am 8. Dezember sind es bereits 30 Jahre seit seiner dramatischen Ermordung in New York.
Aus diesem Anlass wird am 1. Oktober die größte JOHN LENNON Re-Issue Initiative der letzten 30 Jahre unter dem universellen Motto „Gimme Some Truth“ stattfinden. Dann erscheinen nämlich:
- alle 8 Solo Alben von JOHN LENNON als Digital Remastered 2010 (der Remastering Prozess wurde von Yoko Ono höchstpersönlich in den Abbey Road supervised) und in Deluxe Digipacks (analog zu den Beatles Remasters). An dieser Stelle sei erwähnt, dass „Sometime In New York“ inklusive der 6 Jam Sessions Tracks von der Vinyl restauriert wurde.
- „Double Fantasy Stripped Down“: Original Producer Jack Douglas und Yoko Ono überarbeiteten dieses Album gänzlich und befreiten es von der typischen 80er Produktion und den damals typischen Sounds. „Double Fantasy Stripped Down“ zeigt sich dadurch von einer ganz neuen und glanzvollen Seite (CD1 Original Double Fantasy Album remastered 2010/ CD2 Double Fantasy stripped Down Version). Die 2CD Stripped Down Version von „Double Fantasy“ ist nicht in der JOHN LENNON Signature Box enthalten und gibt es nur einzeln im Handel.
- „Power To The People: The Hits “: das ultimative Greatest Hits Package in remasterter Form. Erscheint als Standard Einzel-CD Edition und als Deluxe Version mit Bonus DVD inklusive aller Videoclips.
- „Gimme Some Truth“: Das luxuriöse 4CD Boxset mit 72 Songs für alle die mehr als nur eine Best of haben wollen gedacht. Die CDs sind thematisch aufgearbeitet worden: CD1 „Working Class Hero“ zeigt Johns engagierte Seite und versammelt seine politischen Songs, CD2 „Borrowed Time“ beinhaltet Songs mit Johns Lebensweisheiten, CD3 „Woman“ sind Liebeslieder und CD4 „Roots“ demonstriert die rockige Seite von John Lennons Schaffen.
- „Signature Box“: das JOHN LENNON Sammler-Item par excellence. Der schicke und schlichte weisse Würfel (Masse : 18cm x 18cm x 18cm) beinhaltet alle 8 remastered Studio-Alben im Deluxe Digipack, 2 herausragende Bonus Discs: alle Non Album Singles versammelt auf einer CD (mit u. a. Songs wie „Give Peace A Chance“, „XMas War Is Over“, „Instant Karma“) und eine Bonus Disc mit raren Studio-Outtakes und Homerecordings (größtenteils unveröffentlichtes Material!).
Abgerundet wird die Box durch einen Kunstdruck und ein Hardcover-Buch mit neuen und teils sehr persönlichen Essays von Yoko Ono und deren zwei Söhnen Julian und Sean an John.

The John Lennon Signature Box is a deluxe 11CD and digital collection of the eight remastered albums, a disc of rare and previously unreleased recordings, and an EP of Lennon’s non-album singles. The CDs will be housed in digisleeves within a deluxe box including a collectible limited edition John Lennon art print and a hardbound book featuring rare photos, artwork, collages, poetry, and new liner notes by DeCurtis.
One of the world’s most celebrated songwriters and performers of all time, John Lennon was killed at the age of 40 on December 8, 1980. Lennon has been posthumously honoured with a Lifetime Achievement GRAMMY Award and two special BRIT Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Music, and he has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2008, Rolling Stone ranked him in the Top 5 of the magazine’s “100 Greatest Singers Of All Time” list.
