Product Information

This album is the cr_me de la cr_me of 60's Psychedelic Acid Rock as all you aging hippies out there should already know. Jefferson Airplane emerged from San Francisco in early 1965 and were firmly rooted in the burgeoning Haight Ashbury scene along with the Grateful Dead, Bill Graham, Ken Kesey, Hunter S. Thompson and the Merry Pranksters etc, etc. Hence it is perhaps not surprising that "Surrealistic Pillow" (No. 3 US '67) is seeped with many psychedelic druggy type tunes with titles like the brilliant "White Rabbit" (No. 8 US '67), "The Ballad Of You And Me And Pooneil" (No. 42 US '67), "Embryonic Journey", "3 / 5 Of A Mile In 10 Seconds" and "Plastic Fantastic Lover" among many others. "Surrealistic Pillow" also yielded one of the classics of the era with the wonderfully driving "Somebody To Love" (No. 5 US '67) which highlighted Grace Slick's vocals to perfection and provided a rare psychedelic pop smash. A classic album from the revolutionary 60's which is not only surrealist but realistically priced now on 125 g vinyl again.
