Second episode of "Masterpiece series" with Soul II Soul frontman Jazzie B.

Der erste Teil der Masterpiece Serie kam vom legendären New Yorker DJ, Produzenten und Musikliebhaber Francois Kevorkian, der seit den späten 70er Jahren aktiv ist. Mit Jazzie B geht die Serie nun endlich in Runde 2 und der Soul II Soul Frontmann kann auf eine beachtliche Karriere verweisen. Die Londoner Formation zeigte sich von 1988 bis 1992 für etliche Nummer 1 Hits verantworlich (u. a. "Keep On Movin´" und "Back To Life". Das Projekt um Jazzie B, Nellee Hooper und der Sängerin Caron Wheeler verzeichnete darüberhinaus mit ihrem Debüt Album "Club Classics Vol. 1" aus dem Jahr 1989 ein Nummer 1 Album in den britischen Albumcharts. 1990 erhielten Soul II Soul gleich zwei Grammys für ihr Debüt, welches in Europa und den Staaten gleichermaßen erfolgreich war. Auch ihr zweites Album "Vol. II: 1990 - A New Decade" konnte sich im Vereinigten Königreich an erster Stelle platzieren, Nellee Hooper produzierte kurz darauf dann Massive Attack und Madonna´s "Bedtime Stories". Jazzie B kehrt nun mit einer exzellenten "Alltime Favourites" Werkschau in Form von 3CDs zurück. Von seinen Roots, die im Soul, Funk, Reggae, Disco und Rare Groove zu finden sind, bis zu (Hip) House, Hip Hop und Garage Klassikern versammeln sich hier viele rare Perlen von u. a. Kool & The Gang, James Brown, Young MC, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, Cypress Hill, Mr Fingers, Cameo und und und.
