By 1971, folk-country balladeer HOYT AXTON, who passed away recently, had been recording for a decade.

He entered the 1970s with a prodigious songwriting reputation fanned by the Steppenwolf covers of 'The Pusher' and 'Snowblind Friend', plus the Three Dog Night #1 hit of his infectious 'Joy to the World'.

Axton's striking, accomplished and inventive album Joy To The World included his own essential versions of 'The Pusher' and 'Joy to the World'.
