Es war das Ende eines anstrengenden Jahres mit Touring und im Studio mit der Metheny Group, als der Gitarrist Pat Metheny mit Bassist Dave Holland und Drummer Roy Haynes am 21.12.1989 ins Studio ging, um sich bei einem vorweihnachtlichen Jam zusammenzufinden. Eine Aufnahme für ein Album war gar nicht beabsichtigt, es ging vielmehr um ein lockeres Zusammenspiel. Das Ergebnis ist ein packendes Live-In-The-Studio-Dokument, ausgezeichnet mit einem GRAMMY für Best Instrumental Composition für die Metheny-Komposition „Change Of Heart“.
