Das erste von zwei umfangreichen Box-Sets, die das Gesamt- werk der Jahre 1955-1964 dokumentieren. Nat King Cole ist neben Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra und Bing Crosby einer der vier bekanntesten Sänger der Musikgeschichte und der bis heute populärste afro-amerikanische Pop-Superstar. Bekanntes und Unbekanntes, Obskures und Seltenes. Erstmalig sind die Titel von späteren Zusammenstellungen wie 'Looking Back' ohne die nach seinem Tod dazu gemischte Rhythmus-Sektion zu hören. Die 11 CDs mit 298 Aufnahmen präsentieren Nats Arbei- ten. Die Box deckt das komplette Song-Material von nicht weniger als 16 Originalalben ab. Zusätzlich zu all diesen überragenden Alben enthält die Box annähernd 100 Singles, darunter sind Top-Hits wie 'Ballerina', 'Looking Back' und 'Non Dimenticar', aber auch einige der seltensten Aufnahmen aus Coles Karriere - etliche davon sind bislang nur auf Vinyl-Singles und -EPs erhältlich gewesen. Alle Titel sind von den lästigen Overdubs befreit, die sehr häufig zur künstlichen Verstärkung auf die Originale draufgepappt wur- den. Das 208seitige Hardcover-Buch glänzt mit der bis heute umfangreichsten Discographie über Coles Capitol-Jahre, sie wurde von Russ Wapensky, Jordan Taylor, Michel Ruppli und Richard Weize zusammengestellt. Außerdem gibt es Hunderte seltenster Fotos aus dem Capitol-Archiv mit Motiven von den Aufnahme-Sessions. Darüberhinaus zeigt das Buch ebenfalls Hunderte von LP- und EP-Covers, seltene Label-Abbildungen sowie persönliche Erinnerungsstücke zu Leben und Werk Nat King Coles.
