Brian Blade (geb. 1970): Perceptual
Produktinfo
PERCEPTUAL is a study in unusual and eclectic textures, expanding the boundaries of jazz. "Variations of a Bloodline," a three-part suite, was inspired by ubiquitous inter-ethnic strife around the globe. "Evinrude-Fifty (Trembling)," titled after the model of outboard motor that propelled his father's boat, evokes pastoral images of father-and-son outings in the environs of Blade's hometown, Shreveport, Louisiana. Brian keeps a full calendar, recording and touring with the artists such as Joshua Redman, Bob Dylan, McCoy Tyner, and Joni Mitchell, but he always finds time to for the Brian Blade Fellowship. "I want the idea of the group to be projected, not just this guy leading a band. You're always trying to improve individually, but I feel we're all doing that as a group." On that score, PERCEPTUAL is a manifestation of that growing.Pressestimmen
