Schon mal einen Horrorfilm ohne Ton geguckt? Da sehen Frankenstein, Dracula und ihre haarigen Kollegen King Kong und der Werwolf gleich gar nicht mehr so Angst einflößend aus. Die Musik macht die Szenerie emotional erst zu dem, was die Regie im Sinn hat: nämlich, dass man sich vor Angst in die… ach, naja – Sie wissen schon.

Und jetzt das: eine ganze Schatzkiste voll mit der großartigen Musik zu den Klassikern des Horrors. Und sie sind alle da – Frankenstein, Dracula und ihre haarigen Kollegen King Kong und der Werwolf. Kaum einer der Komponisten, die für diese Meilensteine der Filmkunst ihr Bestes in Sachen Komposition ablieferten, hätte wohl damit gerechnet, dass ihre Werke auch unabhängig vom Film gehört und sogar noch einmal eingespielt werden. Doch Filmfans und Musikliebhaber werden diese Kunstform auch in Zukunft entdecken und den Komponisten ihren zwar unerwarteten, aber rechtmäßigen Platz in der Musik- und Filmgeschichte geben.
