Das Ballett Soluschka (Aschenputtel) entstand als Auftragswerk für das berühmte Ballettensemble des Kirow-Theaters im heutigen St. Petersburg. Uraufgeführt wurde es allerdings am Moskauer Bolschoi-Theater am 21. November 1945. Den internationalen Durchbruch erlangte die Ballettkomposition mit Frederick Ashtons Version unter dem englischen Titel Cinderella 1948. In der vorliegenden Aufnahme tanzt das Ballettensemble der Operá National de Lyon 1989 Sergej Prokofieff Handlungsballett Cinderella in der Choreographie von Maguy Marin, der Ausstattung und den Kostümen von Montserrat Casanova und dem Lichtdesign von John Spradbery. Die musikalische Leitung des Orchesters der Operá National de Lyon lag in den Händen von Yakov Kreisberg. Für die Studio-Aufzeichnung auf der Bühne des Lyoner Opernhauses zeichnete Mans Reutersärd verantwortlich
