Lieder von John Dowland und Zeitgenossen
Mit ihrem Dowland-Album »In Darkness Let Me Dwell« (Bestell-Nr. 9983815) landete die Gambistin Hille Perl vor zwei Jahren einen großen Erfolg. Die CD sorgte für ein begeistertes Medien-Echo. Das Magazin Rondo kürte sie zur CD des Monats: »Das Zusammenspiel von Mields und Perl hat in seiner sinnlichen Ausstrahlungskraft etwas Tranceartiges.« Für ihre neue CD »Loves Alchymie« hat Hille Perl wieder die Sopranistin Dorothee Mields eingeladen. Zusammen mit dem Lautenisten Lee Santana haben sie wunderschöne Lieder der post-elisabethanischen Zeit aufgenommen. Die Stücke basieren auf Texten der sogenannten »metaphysical poetry« von Dichtern wie John Donne und Richard Crashaw. Die Vertonungen stammen von Komponisten wie John Dowland, Alfonso Ferrabosco, William Corkine, Giovanni Coperario aber auch von anonymen Musikern. In sieben thematisch und klanglich unterschiedenen Abschnitten nähern sich Hille Perl und Dorothee Mields diesem musikalisch-poetischen Abschnitt der englischen Literatur auf sehr persönliche Weise und stellen damit einmal mehr ihren Referenzstatus in diesem Feld unter Beweis.
