FonoForum 09 / 11: "Hier wie dort konnte man zunächst auf den umfangreichen eigenen Katalog zurückgreifen, der vor allem hochkarätige Einspielungen des Repertoires mit dem Sinfonieorchester aus Lahti unter Osmo Vänskä verzeichnet, darunter auch die der beiden Versionen der fünften Sinfonie (1915 und 1919). Der eigentliche Clou der Box aber findet sich auf der letzten CD mit insgesamt 14 mehr oder weniger umfangreichen Passagen, die Sibelius während der Komposition oder der Drucklegung verworfen hat. Da geht es manchmal nur um eine veränderte Artikulation, um eine revidierte Instrumentation, vielfach aber um gestrichene Takte und im Fall der siebten Sinfonie gar um einen gänzlich anderen Schluss. Knappe erläuternde Hinweise zu jedem einzelnen dieser Tracks finden sich am Ende des großzügigen und informativen Booklets, so dass man sich auch ohne Partitur mit offenen Ohren auf diese kurzen Abschnitte einlassen kann."
