In den Jahren 1943 – 44 begab sich Jascha Heifetz auf eine ausgedehnte Tour und unterhielt die US-Truppen mit Pop-Repertoire und der Musik der großen klassischen Komponisten. Nach seiner Rückkehr nahm er Hits wie Jamaican Rumba auf, präsentierte sein herausragendes Arrangement von Gershwins Porgy und Bess und arbeitete mit Bing Crosby. Bei diesem Repertoire der „leichteren“ Musik legte er die gleiche Präzision und Leidenschaft an den Tag, die seine Zuhörer von ihm als Virtuose des klassischen Repertoires gewohnt waren.
