Harry Partch (1901-1974), US-amerikanischer Komponist und Instrumentenbauer. Wandte sich der mikrotonalen Musik zu und schrieb die meisten seiner Werke für selbst gebaute Instrumente. Gestimmt waren diese in „reiner“ Intonation und basierten auf ganzzahligen Verhältnissen, die mit dem 11. Naturton endeten. In „Bitter music“ verarbeitete Partch eine kritische Periode in seiner künstlerischen Entwicklung. Texte und fragmentarische Werke, sowie Anmerkungen von Partch selber vorgetragen, ergeben ein interessantes Bild des eigenwilligen Künstlers.
