Produktinfo

Das erste Werk, das George Bizet nach Erhalt des renommierten Prix de Rome komponierte, war sein grandioses Te Deum, das erstaunlicherweise bis 1971 unveröffentlicht blieb.

Seine Kantate Clovis et Clothilde, für die Bizet den Prix de Rome und damit die Eintrittskarte in die Villa Medici gewonnen hatte, erzählt die Geschichte des Frankenkönigs Chlodwig, der sich mit seiner Frau über das Christentum unterhält. Beide Kompositionen sind durchaus theatralisch, wie man es vom zukünftigen Carmen-Schöpfer erwarten sollte.

Auf der vorliegenden Einspielung werden sie von drei außergewöhnlichen jungen SängerInnen und zwei international bekannten französischen Ensembles unter der Leitung von Jean-Claude Casadesus interpretiert.
