Mit der vorliegenden Aufnahme ist der von der Kritik hoch gelobte Roussel-Zyklus mit Christoph Eschenbach und dem Orchestre de Paris endlich abgeschlossen. Roussels dritte Symphonie gehört zu Recht zu den am häufigsten aufgeführten Orchesterwerken des 20. Jahrhunderts. Seltener bekommt man dagegen die reizvolle Partitur zum vollständigen Ballett Le Festin de l’araignée (Das Fest der Spinne) zu hören. Beide Partituren erfahren hier eine überzeugende Umsetzung, die die Bedeutung Roussels in einer Art Schlussplädoyer noch einmal unterstreicht.
